“Meneer Jakobus zegt: be quick to listen and slow to speak.”

Traveler there is no way, you make the way yourself'. This is the adage of the Sunday morning television program Het Vermoeden. Marleen Stelling meets enthusiastic Protestants - from world improver to seeker, from an inspired believer to a spiritual nomad. This year Maame Durowah Okai was featured at "Het Vermoeden" on national Dutch television.

To, mentorship is like passing on the torch of challenges and life lessons learned to be used as a to break status quo’s and build bridges. It enables me to help someone to rise up, be empowered, help them accepts that every mistake is an opportunity to hear something new and to help one see beyond their present situation. When people get passed this they are able to get stability and do better than where they started from when your first start speaking to them………. Interview Maame Durowah Okai on the 15th of March 2017

“That is to say, real personal change usually comes about as a reaction to a role model. One of my personal convictions regarding role models is that I don’t want te be like them so much as I want them to inspire me – to inspire me to find out who I AM. Role models can help us discover our authentic self”. – uit: “I have never become who I am” Maame Durowah Okai.

The Kingdom Citizen Tour 2018

"Are you ready to make a necessary change in your life or will you keep on existing? As the years go by we discover new things about ourselves in life; whether it has to do with ‘predestined’ discoveries, man-made desires and plans or something else. Yet the necessary question to think about is if those discoveries are part of the real you? The Kingdom citizen tour takes you on a hardcore reality check journey. We believe it to be the season of discovery, change
and restoration. Don’t allow yourself to wake up one day with regrets while voicing out: “I have Never Become who I AM”. Instead, make the choice to do what has to be done right now". Miss Maame Durowah Okai

ZO Zijn Wij

"After weeks of activities, work and traveling, I like to go to" my place of rest ": Gaaserplas. As I gaze at the beauty of the water and nature; I enjoy this place. The silence inspires me and allows me to listen to the (my) heart ...

My Love For Prison Work

I remember the first day I entered this place; knowing what I was aiming for. I had my suit on ready to fulfill a passion to work in prison. I will never forget these words 😀 “You look like you are going to a church service; listening to your voice sounding like a “mouse” , you are short, how do you think you can handle & counsel these big boys, you look so innocent.” Well I told them they should not underestimate what they see or hear & try me out …2008 I entered...

A chapter is closed (left 2013) Tonight (2015) I said Goodbye not to a management or building with iron bars but to the people young and old (J.O.C. Family Missed & Remembered) who made a difference in lives of every individual who passed the gates to work, educate, introduce Christ , my boys who did Time for Crime- innocent or guilty. This place has thought us "human behavior & realms" - how people treat each other, Good,Bad & Ugly, Respect, Trust, Betrayal, Friendships, Relationships, Hope, Injustice, Faith, Love, Victory & Battles. Many stories will remain behind the IRON JUNGLE 😉 but one thing is for sure we all have our individual story to tell how we came in & how we left. I Thank God....Best Training Grounds Ever! J.O.C.  Ghanaian Role Models making a Difference in the Ghanaian community – Amsterdam

In relation to recent publications by the Government in Amsterdam about “poverty” among the Ghanaian Youth, a number of action groups have been set up by Stadsdeel Southeast to look for the causes of this unpleasant situation, find solutions, and the way forward.

Action group 3, one of the 6 action groups set by Stadsdeel Southeast, has formed a team, comprising of young talented Ghanaians. Who will be trained to become trainers or rolmodels within the Ghanaian Community. They will in-future, organize forums, which will be a platform to educate the Ghanaian youth in all areas of life.

Series of positive interactions has already taken place with some of the youth. They have come to the realization that its time to engage the youth in conversations or discussions with the elderly.

On the 26th of July Mr. Sam Danso known as Uncle Sam, Ivy Asare Oduro and Maame Durowah Kan were invited to Spirit FM to have a chat with Mr. Quayson Kay (founder).

* Relationship between the youth and parents
* Expectations from parents and vice versa

Everything remains a bit stuck in Southeast - Maame Durowah

Article about the current city council in the Netherlands, 20-march-2014, Zuidoostamsterdam.nl , Issue nr. 6

Amsterdam Southeast is changing its name into Amsterdam. I think it’s more of a coherent whole. A board for different regions. That also means you have more votes for a decision. People who had less to say, may come out their hidden places to make their voice known, although this is dependent on the social issue. At this time, everything remains a bit stuck in Southeast.Southeast has so much to offer to the rest of the City. We have the Bijlmerpark, we have Arena Boulevard. Recognize this is Southeast, a great part of town. When we talk about the future, I think we should listen more to young people, our target group, the once I work with everyday.

"What are the things they are facing? The youngster
have problems and need help, but the current offer is often not adjusted to the target group. Opportunities are there, but sometimes unreachable. Shame also plays a role. I would say, be consistent and inline with what they need". Maame Durowah

Marnie Snip (Dutch)

Everything she says is already once told but what makes it so beautiful and inspiring is the way she does it. She keeps it very close to herself and knows how to keep the attention and hold it. …She does it so well!! Marnie Snip (English)

She was actualy quite good. Now I have a very clear picture of the new generation and I learned allot myself. Martin Caupauin
